Los Angeles, California - Beyoncé has stepped up to help Indiana communities that were impacted by a severe flooding.
The Cowboy Carter artist's BeyGOOD Foundation announced via its official Instagram page that $200,000 has been donated to City Life Center and Angel by Nature after Gary, Indiana, was struck by a "derecho" storm – a widespread wind storm that includes severe thunderstorms.
The caption notes that the organizations are "on the ground aiding communities most affected" by the weather event that has left "more than 1,000 people unhoused."
"The fund will immediately support critical relief and recovery efforts in the neediest areas, including the city of Gary, providing food, household supplies, and other essential resources to individuals and families impacted by the flooding," the post added.
The devastating storm first struck Indiana on August 11 and resulted in seven deaths, power outages, and extensive property damage, leading President Donald Trump to declare the severe flood a major disaster.
Beyoncé is currently preparing for her 45th birthday, and it's rumored that the Grammy winner may kick off her celebrations in London with her husband, Jay-Z.
The rapper will commemorate the anniversaries of two of his groundbreaking albums with a back-to-back Jay-Z 30 concert series, which begins on Friday.
