Los Angeles, California - Jon M. Chu spilled some tea on the Britney Spears biopic and whether anyone has been cast to portray the iconic singer!

During the opening night of the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the Wicked director gave a brief update on the upcoming biopic and Liz Meriwether's script.

Chu told Variety that the New Girl creator is "doing many beautiful things, and I may or may have not gotten glimpses of what she's been doing, and it's incredible."

He continued, "It's incredible, profound, beautiful. And that's all I can say about it. You already got me to say too much."

On casting someone to play the Toxic hitmaker, the 46-year-old shared, "I get emails every day, hundreds of emails from people all around the world."

The Crazy Rich Asians filmmaker noted, "Thank you for sending all your auditions. I am not even thinking about casting right now. We're just trying to get the story right."

As for whether Chu has spent time with Spears herself, he further added, "I cannot say anything right now."

Universal Studios greenlit production on the film adaptation based on the Circus singer's memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2024.
