Bruce Willis' wife Emma shares rare photo of actor amid dementia battle: "So proud to be his wife"
Los Angeles, California - Bruce Willis has withdrawn from the spotlight since his dementia diagnosis, but his wife, Emma Heming-Willis, recently shared a rare photo of the actor and dedicated some heartfelt words to him.
Emma shared the moving post in honor of action week for frontotemporal dementia – the disease Bruce was diagnosed with more than three years ago.
"I can't go through World FTD Awareness Week without talking about Bruce," she wrote in the caption.
The accompanying photo showed the 71-year-old rocking a pair of sunglasses, a fisherman's hat, and a white t-shirt that appeared to have marker drawings on it.
Emma said her husband is the "driving force" behind her commitment to people living with dementia and their families.
"I will not let his diagnosis be in vain," the 50-year-old continued.
"I know how proud he would be to know that he is helping families living with FTD, other forms of dementia and their care partners be seen and heard."
Bruce Willis was diagnosed with dementia three years ago
In 2022, the Hollywood star's family initially announced that Willis was suffering from aphasia, an acquired language disorder caused by damage to the brain's speech centers.
About a year later, they reported that the actor had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Since then, Emma has been publicly advocating for greater awareness and support for people with FTD.
This year, she founded a charity to educate the public about the disease and promote research.
Bruce's illness has progressed to the point where the former action star lives in a private nursing home, receiving round‑the‑clock care.
His family regularly posts updates on his condition as they support him through his health battle.
