Los Angeles, California - Taylor Swift took a trip down memory lane during a special appearance at the Grammy Museum, where she reflected on her musical beginnings and treated fans to an intimate performance.

The 36-year-old superstar joined Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. for a conversation on August 18, opening up about how her songwriting and relationship with country music have evolved throughout her nearly two-decade career.

Taylor admitted that as the years have passed, she's felt an even stronger connection to the Nashville community that helped shape her as a young artist.

"I love my country roots more and more the further along this path I get, and I want to honor them more and more," she said.

The Grammy winner also recalled developing a fascination with Nashville as a child and teaching herself instruments while studying the structure of songs she admired.

Though she ultimately ventured beyond country into pop and other genres, she explained that the storytelling skills she developed early in her career have remained at the heart of her songwriting.

She also reflected on taking creative risks, including transforming I Knew You Were Trouble from an emotional piano ballad into the explosive, dubstep-influenced hit fans know and love today.

Taylor capped off the appearance at the piano with a special mashup of I Knew It, I Knew You, August, and All Too Well, bringing a little Eras Tour magic to the Grammy Museum.
