King Charles wants to bring Prince Harry back into the royal family – on one condition

London, UK - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to England, but will they return to their roles as working members of the royal family? For King Charles, at least, this is a conceivable scenario!

The 77-year-old monarch could easily imagine re‑engaging his youngest son as a working royal in the long term, the Daily Express recently reported, citing royal expert Robert Jobson.

According to the report, Harry's goal is also to become fully reintegrated into the royal family after his move.

His official return to the royal family, however, is said to be contingent on one condition: a reconciliation with his brother, Prince William.

Before the California expat can assume an official role back home, the family's internal tensions must be smoothed over, according to the royal expert.

For this to happen, Harry needs to summon some courage and take a step toward his older brother.

"There will need to be an apology first, and it will have to be public," the royal expert said.

Behind Charles' desire for a harmonious family lies not only an emotional motive but also an interest in stability.

Harry is fifth in the line of succession, and his children Archie (7) and Lilibet (5) follow in sixth and seventh place.

"The King will be looking at this and thinking that he doesn't want his reign to be defined by division. He wants a strong, unified royal family," Jobson explained.

Jobson also suggests that the Duke of Sussex's urgency may be linked to the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

"He knows his father is ill and that he has limited time, so he knows he has to act now. It won't be allowed under William, so he has to act now."

Harry and Meghan plan to return to the UK by the end of August. Their children are set to start school in England the following month.
