Washington DC - A woman is now facing felony charges after she allegedly tagged and filled the World War II Memorial fountain with bubbles.

According to Politico, the office of US Attorney Jeanine Pirro filed felony charges on Friday against a woman who allegedly spray-painted "Clean hands dirty $" on a balcony and put foam bubbling in the fountain.

The offenses, which involve damages exceeding $1,000, carry penalties of up to 10 years in prison.

Pirro announced the charges in an X post, further describing the crime as "a despicable attack on a sacred monument honoring the Americans who fought and died for our freedom."

She also shared photos of the woman whom she identified as Melissa Farris.

President Donald Trump also commented in a Truth Social post, arguing there is "no greater insult" to veterans.

The incident comes as President Trump has been publicly criticizing Pirro after she dropped a case against former Olympian David Hearn, who was accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Though Trump repeatedly claimed Hearn maliciously vandalized the pool, Pirro's office concluded the damage was due to a "botched" repair job by a company the president had contracted to renovate it.

In social media videos reviewed by Politico, Farris repeatedly discussed the troubles she deals with as a homeless woman and claimed that she intended to turn herself over to police.
