Washington DC - A construction worker had to be rescued from an emergency situation while working on one of President Donald Trump's many renovations to the White House.
According to The Washington Post, audio recordings revealed that dispatchers for the DC Fire and EMS department called on Monday for a "high-angle rescue" – a response to an individual who may be trapped in an elevated emergency situation.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene at the North Portico of the White House, where they climbed a ladder to reach and free the trapped worker using a stretcher and a basket, and quickly transported them to a local hospital.
Freelance photographer Andrew Leyden shared photos on X of the rescue.
While sources told the outlet the employee was an adult male who suffered a non-life-threatening injury, the White House has not publicly shared an update on his condition.
The incident comes as Trump has launched several renovation and construction projects in and around the White House since his re-election. This includes the building of a massive ballroom and, most recently, plans to update the White House's bowling alley.
Crews have reportedly been working for two months to repair the North Portico's tall, white columns and fortify its entrance into the White House as Trump prepares to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping for a visit later this month.
In his second term, Trump has also paved over the iconic Rose Garden, and has covered the White House in hundreds of golden decorations.
