Katie Zacharia blames the media, DC over press secretary firing: "They would not let me do my job"
Washington DC - President Donald Trump's former White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia recently revealed why she believes she was fired from her role.
In a recent interview with Newsmax, Zacharia argued that the news media and Washington DC "does not like outsiders" which made it impossible for her to do her job.
"They would not let me do my job, which was to focus on him and focus on what he's doing to win. And it became too amassed over me," Zacharia said.
She also said it was "very likely" that she would still be in the role if she hadn't done an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity before her departure, during which she claimed she was met with "hostility."
Zacharia's remarks come after President Trump tapped her to replace former secretary Karoline Leavitt earlier this month.
Her first press briefing was met with heavy criticism as it only lasted 15 minutes, and she took only three questions from MAGA-friendly news outlets.
Soon after, she came under heavy scrutiny when reports revealed that despite Zacharia publicly identifying herself as an attorney, she actually failed the California bar exam after graduating law school in 2011 and does not hold any legal credentials.
She was ultimately let go after only five days on the job.
On Wednesday, she also did an interview with political commentator Piers Morgan, which grew contentious as he pressed her about her brief tenure.
Instead of responding, Zacharia repeatedly declared her loyalty to Trump, prompting Morgan to ask, "You sound like a robot. Has Donald Trump got some program plugged into you to make you come out with all this stuff?"
