Katie Zacharia faces even more scrutiny over doctored photo with Trump
Washington DC - President Donald Trump's former White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia is once again under scrutiny after sharing photos on social media that were clearly doctored.
On Friday – the same day she was let go after only five days on the job – Zacharia shared a photo on X of herself posing with the president in the Oval Office.
She praised Trump as "a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man," adding that it was an "honor to work for him."
X users quickly noted that a small part of the photo was blurred out, which a DC advocacy group later pointed out was a map of the East Potomac Park – the location of a federally owned golf course Trump is trying to revamp.
The following day, she posted another image, this time of her and her family – with some of her children donning MAGA hats – again posing with the president.
The photo was also apparently doctored, this time with the map removed entirely.
According to The Washington Post, digital traces show that both images had been modified, raising questions as to why.
Trump is currently in a legal battle after he abruptly ordered trees to be demolished at the East Potomac Park, circumventing the judge's previous order requiring prior notification of such work.
When asked about Zacharia's photos, White House communications director Steven Cheung insisted the outlet was "breathlessly obsessing over an innocuous photo" and suffering from "a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome."
