Trump makes stunning call on new Press Secretary Katie Zacharia after just five days on the job

Washington DC - President Donald Trump is reportedly moving to fire his newly appointed Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia, as she continues to face questions over her legal credentials.

Three sources told The New York Times that Zacharia had officially been let go from the role, while a senior White House official told Fox News that she is in the process of "transitioning out" of the role.

The news comes less than a week after the president first announced that Zacharia would be filling the void left by former secretary Karoline Leavitt, who abruptly resigned last month.

Zacharia delivered her first press briefing on Tuesday, which was met with heavy criticism, as it only lasted 15 minutes and she took only three questions from MAGA-friendly news outlets.

Soon after, she came under heavy scrutiny when reports revealed that despite Zacharia publicly identifying herself as an attorney, she actually failed the California bar exam after graduating law school in 2011 and does not hold any legal credentials.

While speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, Trump lamented that Zacharia has been "treated very badly by the media" but claimed he encouraged her to "reconsider" taking the position.

Zacharia's short stint managed to beat the record set for the shortest time in the Trump administration set by Anthony Scaramucci, who served as communications director for only 10 days during the Republican's first term.
