Washington DC - A whistleblower with the US Postal Service recently claimed President Donald Trump's administration is moving forward with plans to drastically change voting in the midterms despite a court order blocking their efforts.

In a whistleblower report filed on Monday, an anonymous federal official claimed to know of"potentially catastrophic problems" that may come about as USPS develops "an entirely new and untested" set of IT systems that will "govern the delivery of ballots to voters as soon as the 2026 mid-term federal elections and beyond."

The official raised "grave concerns" that the Trump administration has "hidden the high likelihood" that the new system "will result in major disruptions in mail ballots ever getting delivered to voters."

In an X post shared Tuesday, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, whose office first published the report, said the system "is purposefully designed to fail – & risk voting rights for millions of Americans who cast ballots by mail."

The claims come as Trump has claimed for years without evidence that US elections are rife with fraud and has claimed Democrats use mail-in voting to cheat.

In his second term, he has aggressively pushed legislation seeking to make drastic changes to voting laws ahead of the midterm elections in November, but his efforts have been repeatedly blocked by federal judges.

In his own X post, Democratic House Minority Leader Chuck Schumer accused Trump of turning the USPS into "a voter suppression machine" as he does "everything he can to rig the midterms."
