Washington DC - Top administration officials have reportedly been warning President Donald Trump that his Iran war may very well go on past the end of his second term.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and other officials have warned the president of the possibility that Tehran may continue resisting pressure from the US past Inauguration Day in January 2029.

When he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu first launched the war in February, Trump claimed the conflict would last only a few weeks, and he has since continued giving new timelines for when it might be resolved.

On Wednesday, Trump told reporters that he thinks "the war will end immediately" after the midterm elections in November.

He also baselessly claimed Iran was "desperate to affect the election," as they want a "weak group of" Democrats to win who will "leave them alone, and let them have their nuclear weapon."

Later that night, while giving a speech at the GOP midterm convention, he defended the war, claiming the price of gas– which has reached record high prices in recent months – will go down "as soon as we win the war with Iran," and even suggested Iran's Strait of Hormuz should be renamed after him.

Trump and his allies have also refused to publicly call the conflict a "war," though it has resulted in 20 deaths and more than 800 injuries to US soldiers so far.
