Trump boasts about his 25 "top achievements" as devastating midterms threaten to thwart GOP

Washington DC - President Donald Trump on Saturday posted a lengthy list of achievements to social media as he faces a potentially devastating midterm result for the GOP.

Amid the wild claims made by Trump in a Truth Social post he shared on Saturday, he said he'd halted all refugee admissions and made English the official language of the US. It was but another desperate attempt to revive his midterm hopes.

Ahead of November's vote, the GOP is facing grueling polls, weighed down by an unpopular war with Iran, a failure to lower the cost of living, and skyrocketing fuel prices.

Polls say the party could well lose control of the House and perhaps even the Senate, a setback which would pose a major challenge for Trump over the final two years of his presidential run.

According to Trump's post, however, he has "achieved the most secure border in history" and seen huge success in the realms of immigration, economics, and foreign policy.

"ZERO illegal aliens admitted to the United States in the past 16 months," he wrote, adding his administration had slashed refugee admissions from "dangerous places" under former President Joe Biden.

Trump has presided over an often violent immigration crackdown which involves frequent deportations and shipping undocumented people to third countries, which are often compensated with money.

He also claimed the US had "obliterated Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity" to ensure the Islamic republic "will NEVER have a nuclear weapon". This was one of Trump's often-changing justifications for going to war in February.

The US-Israeli strikes on Tehran have rocked the global economy and engulfed the Middle East in war, proving a quagmire for a president who promised not to get America involved in foreign wars.

Trump also flaunted hefty tariffs slapped on US trading partners, which he said were to "bring back American Manufacturing."
