Washington DC - White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down at the end of the month, President Donald Trump announced Wednesday as he hailed her as "one of my most trusted aides."
Leavitt earned a reputation as a fiercely loyal defender of the president, delivering acid put-downs of journalists at her press briefings.
"President Trump has asked me to continue serving as a top advisor to him on the outside," Leavitt said on social media.
In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump said that Leavitt had decided to exit in order to spend more time with her children and thanked her for a "job well done."
"Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections," he continued.
"Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom, since 2018, including our Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024."
Leavitt returned to the press podium last month after taking maternity leave following the birth of her second child in May.
Prior to her gig as Trump's press secretary, Leavitt ran for Congress in New Hampshire back in 2022 and began working for the president's MAGA Inc. shortly after her defeat.
