"Very happy to see that Saudi Arabia, [Türkiye], and Pakistan have recently, and finally, signed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement," Trump wrote in a rambling post to Truth Social on Sunday.

"It shows how the Middle East is coming together, and how Countries will finally be able to defend themselves in a more meaningful way," he said.

"Congratulations to the Great Leadership of the three Nations mentioned. THIS IS A BIG, BOLD, AND IMPORTANT FIRST STEP – WOW!"

The three-way agreement was signed August 7 and comes amid the US and Israel's war of aggression against Iran, which has extended violence across the region and rebooted Houthi rebel attacks in the Red Sea.

Pakistan's foreign ministry said the pact meant an attack on any member would be regarded as an attack on all, adding it was "intended to strengthen collective deterrence."

The agreement declared a "shared commitment to further strengthening their collective security and to promoting peace, security, and stability in the region and beyond."

The three countries will also share a commitment to participating in efforts to resolve the conflict between Iran and the US.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif responded to Trump's post with praise on X, writing that he "deeply" appreciates the president's support and "kind words."

"Together with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Türkiye, Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in ensuring the defense of our own countries as well as the entire region," he said.
