James Talarico slams Elon Musk’s attempt to buy Senate seat: "Texas is not for sale"
Austin, Texas - Senate candidate James Talarico of Texas recently called out billionaire Elon Musk for attempting to buy up elections for the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections.
While giving a speech at the University of Texas at Austin on Friday, Talarico blatantly sent a message to the X and Space X CEO: "Texas is not for sale."
"Elon Musk is trying to buy the Senate seat. We just found out that the richest man in the world is almost single-handedly bankrolling this effort to install Ken Paxton in the US Senate and stop the movement that we are building in our state," Talarico said.
"In all likelihood, if you've seen an attack ad on your screens, that was Elon. If you've gotten lies in your mailbox, that was Elon. If you received a text message saying scary things about me with scary black and white photos, that was Elon too."
His remarks come after reports found that Musk recently became the Republican Party's largest donor in the midterm elections, with most of his money going towards races in Texas, where he currently resides.
Most notably, Musk contributed $158 million that went straight to Texas PAC, which supports Talarico's embattled Republican challenger Ken Paxton.
Musk has also been excessively posting about Talarico on his X platform, spreading unfounded claims about him and suggesting there is "something deeply wrong" with the politician.
Also on Friday, Talarico cast his ballot in the Senate race, and visited the famous Texas burger joint Whataburger, where he was met by a massive crowd of supporters – including Bryce Alakai Dettloff from the eighth season of Love Island.
