Washington DC - Vice President JD Vance desperately plead with House Republicans to "talk about Abdul El-Sayed" and released a bizarre video joking about arresting the Michigan Senate candidate.

Recordings obtained by CNN saw Vance tell a close-door meeting of GOP Congressman that they should blame the Democrats for the country's economic woes and direct attacks towards El-Sayed wherever possible.

"If you are one of the few Republicans who's running against a Democrat who's not that crazy, then just talk about Abdul El-Sayed," Vance insisted. "He's got enough material for the whole country."

"James Talarico has said a lot of weird stuff," he continued, referring to Texas State Representative James Talarico, who's facing off against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for a seat in the US Senate. "That's true of a lot of these candidates."

Vance went on to draw attention to the state of the US economy, the cost of living, and the frustrations of voters that are unhappy with the Trump administration's record.

"Right now, we have a country where people are frustrated," Vance said. "You got to level with them. You got to be honest about those frustrations, and you got to be honest about the ways in which the Democrats cause the problems."

His attacks against the likes of Talarico and El-Sayed aren't unusual, and have become a centerpiece of the Republicans' strategy going into the midterms. Part of the GOP strategy is to revive decades-old fears about socialism.

In a recent video on TikTok, Vance took a swipe at El-Sayed's beard in a bizarre and racially-charged threat.

"So I heard in the state of Michigan they have outlawed patchy beards," Vance said in the video. "Get in, patriots. We're going to arrest Abdul El-Sayed."
