Westwood, Massachusetts - Another member of the famed Kennedy family has died tragically young. Kyle Kennedy, the granddaughter of former Senator Robert F. Kennedy was, like her grandfather, just 42 years old.
According to People, ex-husband Liam Kerr and their two children, Conor (12) and Declan (10), are left behind. Conor's twin sister, Josie, died a few days after birth.
Kyle Kennedy passed away on September 21 at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts. Her aunt Rory described her as a "wonder" and a loving mother to her two boys.
Kyle was humorous, strong‑willed, and beloved by everyone. "She will be deeply missed," aunt Rory told People.
The cause of the 42‑year‑old's death is currently under investigation.
In true Kennedy fashion, Kyle had to endure a series of hardships in her short life. Her father, Michael LeMoyne Kennedy, died on New Year's Eve in 1997. In 2020, Kyle suffered a spinal injury in an accident, and photos show her having to use a wheelchair.
Numerous members of the Kennedy family have died tragically young
After her severe injury, the 42‑year‑old, who held master's degrees in history, early childhood education, and education policy and management, became increasingly active on behalf of people with disabilities.
With her early death, Kyle Kennedy joins a long list of family members who have also been taken too soon.
In addition to her grandfather Bobby, father Michael, and daughter Josie, Tatiana Schlossberg also died far too early in December 2025 at the age of 35.
The granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy suffered from an aggressive form of leukemia.
Her grandfather remains the most famous member of the family clan. The former president was assassinated in November 1963. His son, John F. Kennedy Jr., and daughter-in-law Carolyn Bessette died in a plane crash in 1999.
