Columbus, Ohio - Democrat Sherrod Brown triumphed in his bid to return to the US Senate, unseating Republican Jon Husted in Tuesday's midterms.
Brown received 49.6% of the vote to Husted's 45.6%, with 95% of ballots counted, per the Associated Press.
Greg Levy of the Party for Socialism and Liberation got 2%, and Libertarian candidate William B. Redpath got 2.8%.
Brown was attempting a comeback after losing his Senate seat in the 2024 election to Republican Bernie Moreno.
Husted was appointed by outgoing Governor Mike DeWine in 2025 to fill the vacancy left when JD Vance became vice president.
"We came together to put workers before billionaires," Brown said in a video on social media. "We stood up against corruption, against scandal, against war."
"We told Jon Husted – we told all of Washington – we're not putting up with it anymore. We showed up, we voted, and we won."
Also on Tuesday, Democrat Amy Acton defeated Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, who was backed by President Donald Trump, to become the next governor of Ohio.
