Key West, Florida - The father of an active duty US Navy sailor aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier has been abducted by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security on Sunday confirmed that immigration authorities have arrested Nicaragua-national Luis Manuel Aviles Roa during a vehicle stop.

Manuel Aviles is the father of Joshua Aviles, an active-duty US sailor who has been stationed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln throughout the duration of President Donald Trump's war on Iran.

"I've been deployed for over nine months, out ⁠at sea in the Middle East aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, fighting for a country ​that has given me everything," he said in a post to Facebook over the weekend.

"I just got a call that my dad was taken by ICE," he continued. "If you know my dad, you know he is a hardworking, humble man who is always willing to help anyone if he can."

"My dad has his driver’s license, Social Security card, and work permit. We have done everything through immigration to get his green card approved, and we are just waiting."

The DHS has stated that Manuel Aviles was detained because he originally entered the US as an undocumented migrant. They said in a statement that "having a family member in the military is not a free pass to violate our nation's laws."

"This is heartbreaking for me," Joshua Aviles continued. "I don't know how I can mentally continue working 12+ hour days knowing that my dad is somewhere, possibly being treated like a criminal."

The news comes as Trump continues to ramp up his brutal and often violent mass roundups of migrants, as well as his mass deportation campaign.

It also comes only weeks after damning reports emerged about shocking and inhumane conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been at sea for more than 200 consecutive days.
