Washington DC - The House of Representatives on Tuesday voted for a third time in favor of calling an end to President Donald Trump's ongoing war with Iran.
Representatives voted 220–204 in favor of a War Powers Resolution that seeks to force Trump to remove troops from Iran and end the war immediately.
The vote marked a final effort by Democrats to oppose the unpopular war ahead of the November midterms, in which Republicans are desperately fighting to maintain their majority in Congress.
This is the third time the House has passed similar measures, but this time seven Republicans voted yes, three more than previously.
The three that joined the opposition were Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn of Iowa, and Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina.
When he first launched the war alongside Israel back in February, President Trump promised it would only take a few weeks, but he has since repeatedly changed that promise.
Trump has also gone out of his way to avoid referring to the conflict as a "war" so that he can avoid the congressional approval required for a president to declare war.
To date, there appears to be no end in sight, and the president continues to threaten escalation.
In an X post, Nunn argued: "With the negotiating window closed, sustained combat operations now require congressional authorization."
Representative Thomas Massie on Tuesday also introduced articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for defying Congress over the war which will be voted on in coming days.
