"F***ing a**hole": NFL legend Aaron Rodgers in hot seat for trash-talking coach

Cleveland, Ohio – Ten seconds before the final whistle, the 24‑27 loss for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his Pittsburgh Steelers was sealed. However, a tense scene between him and head coach Mike McCarthy is still generating buzz.

McCarthy apparently took too long in the first quarter to call the next offensive play. The 2010 Super Bowl quarterback seemed irritated – especially given the ticking clock.

After a play, the offense has either 25 seconds or, by default, 40 seconds – depending on the preceding situation – to snap the ball and start a new drive.

Rodgers pressured him: “What the f***! Call it!" he shouted, fists clenched toward the sideline.

His coach responded half‑loudly and seemingly annoyed: “F***ing a**hole.” The debate continued down the sideline.

The Steelers fell behind 7‑21 at one point, then launched a comeback. W tith only seconds left—thanks to a successful two‑point conversion by Pittsburgh—the score suddenly read 24‑24. The Browns then secured the winning field goal from 56 yards out by kicker Andre Szmyt.

After the game, the coach took a conciliatory tone: “What’s said on the field stays on the field—that’s how I was raised. But I understand that’s not the case anymore,” McCarty said at the press conference. “I wish I hadn’t used those words.”

However, the backstory of the two must be considered in context: McCarty had been Rodgers’ coach with the Green Bay Packers for years. They have known each other for a long time and maintain a very close relationship.

Observers assume that the Steelers coach would likely not have secured this position without the quarterback’s involvement.

Aaron Rodgers himself is also regarded as someone with an “old‑school mindset,” which is not a one‑way street for him.

If he’s tackled out of bounds on the sideline while heading off the field, he has already stopped his team from going after the defender on multiple occasions. Let alone calling a penalty after a yellow flag.

Had Rodgers won what could be the last Thursday game of his career, he would have set the Tom Brady record. The GOAT, as Brady is often called, won 14 Thursday Night games as a player. Rodgers now has only 13.
