Bellmore, New York - First, she went up to the attic – then she vanished completely! This month, cat Lola left her owners baffled when she seemingly disappeared from her family home. Eventually, her owners decided to hire animal rescuer John Debacker to track her down.
The professional immediately pulled out all the stops. He set traps throughout the house and installed cameras – yet the cat remained unseen for days, as The Dodo reported.
About a week later, the family was surprised to hear a meow coming through the wall. At that moment, everyone realized that Lola must have slipped into the attic through a crack in the wall.
Under these circumstances, Debacker needed help and hired Cathy Lucarello to assist in opening the wall. Together with the expert, the animal rescuer broke away the plaster, being careful not to accidentally injure the cat.
After a while, they finally found something – a piece of fur – but even greater caution was now required.
Lola the cat managed to survive a whole week inside the walls!
A video Debacker posted on Facebook on September 19 shows the intense rescue operation.
In the original footage, it takes more than 40 minutes before the rescuers finally pull the cat out of the wall.
She must have hung upside down there for a week – unable to move, eat, or drink. In other words, that "stay" probably cost her several of her nine lives!
"How she survived is beyond miraculous," Debacker wrote on Facebook.
Immediately after the rescue, the house cat was taken to the vet. Fortunately, nothing serious was found.
Since then, Lola has been recovering from the ordeal – and is slowly getting back to her old self.
