National Dog Day: Dog abandoned by family breaks rescuers' hearts with this tragic behavior

Los Angeles, California - When this darling doggo's family moved out of their home in Los Angeles, they abandoned him in the searing heat. For a month, he was left on his own – until Suzette Hall arrived.

When animal activist and rescuer Suzette Hall turned up on the scene, the little pooch had been alone for weeks and was not in a good way.

On Tuesday, she revealed the dog's story in a touching and devastating post to Facebook, sharing the truly shocking condition in which she found the little darling.

"It was 94 degrees when I arrived. So incredibly hot," she wrote on Facebook. "Two weeks ago, his family moved away. And they left him behind."

"For two weeks, this sweet boy had been trying to survive on his own. People would see him go back to the gate of the home where he used to live, trying to get back in. But no one was there anymore," she explained.

"He found what little safety he could in an alley just down the street – near LAX, surrounded by busy, busy streets in every direction… Some kind people had been leaving food and water here and there, but it simply wasn't enough."

The little dog was so hungry, he immediately went with his rescuer

Together with her colleague Rosario, the animal lover set up a cage and a lure for her new furry friend.

Sometimes, it takes Hall days to capture such an animal – but this time, it was nearly immediate.

"It didn't even take three minutes. That sweet boy went right in. That's how hungry he was," Hall wrote.

On this scorching day, the quick success was a welcome change from the many complicated rescue operations Hall has been making over recent weeks.

"After two weeks of being left behind, this sweet little boy is finally safe. He will never be left behind again," Hall wrote.
