Coweta County, Georgia – Unbelievable accusations have been made against an animal hospital in Georgia: A dog's family says the facility lied about euthanizing their beloved pet.
Owner Rebecca Belote told Channel 2 News that she took her pug, Cha Cha, to the Senoia Animal Hospital in Coweta County for an examination. Cha Cha was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis and organ failure.
Belote was told that the four‑year‑old female dog was in such poor condition that euthanasia was the only option.
The news was devastating. Belote says it hit her 17‑year‑old son especially hard, as he was "really attached to the dog."
"They even had matching outfits – like coordinated hoodies they wore together," she added.
The family assumed the dog had died after paying for the euthanasia and mourned the loss.
Then, everything changed when Rebecca was scrolling through Facebook and came across a photo of a pug that looked exactly like Cha Cha.
"I knew, scrolling, that's my dog," she said.
Veterinary clinic responds to shocking allegations over Georgia pug
The person holding Cha Cha in the photo was an employee of the Senoia Animal Hospital!
What's more, according to Belote, that employee's husband even confirmed that Cha Cha was living with them.
The distressed owner contacted the facility, and she says they denied her claims that a staff member took the dog.
"They have a lawyer," she explained. "They won't talk about it."
Following Belote's interaction with the clinic, Cha Cha was then euthanized, which has complicated the situation.
"Euthanizing a healthy dog is just sick," the Belote woman explained. She says she has filed a complaint with the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
Belote says that the authorities are looking into the situation.
According to Channel 2, this isn't an isolated event. A cat named Annie was also slated for euthanasia, but her family discovered 18 months later that an employee had taken the kitty home.
