Pinetop‑Lakeside, Arizona – When Arizona police picked up a lost dog, he was so matted that he couldn't walk or see. A scan of this dog's microchip added to the rescue drama: The pup named Owl had been missing for six years!
Owl went missing just before Christmas 2020. The pooch was at the groomer's in his hometown of Sedona, Arizona, when he vanished as if into thin air.
The groomer called his owner, Linsey Frawley, with the horrible news.
"I said, 'What are you talking about? Where is my dog?' And she said, 'He ran away,'" Frawley told local news outlet Arizona's Family.
Owl's family searched high and low for their beloved dog, but after six years, they had started to accept that Owl was gone.
"We just had to put it out of our head and in our heart that maybe he's just in a better place now," Frawley said.
Then, the impossible occurred: Owl was found this September. Police in Pinetop‑Lakeside, Arizona found him wandering – that's about 200 miles away from where he vanished!
Owl is now back with his family and healing. They've also taken Owl to the groomer – his matted fur is gone, and he can run and see.
"No animal should have to go through that," Frawley said.
Frawley's son, Mason Goodson, said of the reunion, "It's like if one of my dead relatives were to be sitting on my couch when I got home or something. It feels the same."
Frawley wants to know what happened, but because dogs don't talk, there's no way to know. The family believes he was stolen from the groomers six years ago.
