Asheville, North Carolina - A tiny Yorkshire terrier filmed barking incessantly at a bear in his backyard, as he tries to chase the much larger mammal away, has gone viral on the internet!
The small dog is seen yapping at the intruder, a black bear that is multiple times the terrier's size, as it tries to climb a tree or do anything to get away from the yard's fierce defender.
Benny, the terrier, was intent on getting the bear to leave the yard of his home in North Carolina, according to media reports.
The dog's owner told ABC News that little Benny chases everything that enters the yard, regardless of its size!
In the video, the owner repeatedly tries to call his dog back – to no avail.
Although the bear could easily have killed Benny with a simple swipe of the paw or a single bite, the canine's quest ends triumphantly when the bear gives up trying to escape up a tree, only to run away towards the woods.
The clip has gone totally viral, with netizens in total amazement over Benny's heroics!
"Benny doing what he's suppose to do even tho it's a David vs Goliath situation lol but Benny held his own," one Instagram user said, while another wrote, "he can be my guard dog any time."
Black bears are the only bear species found in North Carolina.
