Gothic, Colorado - The winner of the inaugural Fat Marmot Week contest has been announced, and the victor isn't going quietly into the night.

The results are in, and the fluffy champion of the first-ever Fat Marmot Week is none other than the man of the hour, Dawn.

Known as one of the chubbiest of the males in the running for the crown, Dawn has fathered numerous litters of cute and cuddly marmots over the years. He's built quite the protective muscle and isn't afraid to show his love for things others may find strange, such as his alleged adoration for the taste of rocks.

Researchers at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) created Fat Marmot Week to showcase and celebrate how massive marmots have to get to survive their long, cold winter hibernation.

What was it about Dawn that spoke to people so much?

According to a post on the RMBL Marmot Project's Instagram page, "THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN," giving Dawn "back-to-back victories in the mass gain and popular vote competitions."

The organization then asked everyone to "give it up for our chunky champion," which people did not hesitate to do in the comments.

"I hope all the contestants have a safe and cozy winter," one Instagram user wrote, while another commented, "Big FAT congratulations to the Corpulent Champ, well-deserved!!!!🔥"

Another social media user simply said, "THAT’S MY KING."

Those wondering whether there will be another Fat Marmot Week contest next year, it seems RMBL Project has the answer: "If your favorite didn’t win this year, don’t fret, you’ll have a chance to root for your favorite again during Fat Marmot Week 2027!"
