Beirut, Lebanon - The Israeli army on Monday demanded that residents of the Deir Zahrani municipality in southern Lebanon leave the area ahead of a planned bombing campaign.
On Monday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said an explosive drone was launched toward its forces and "Hezbollah's terrorist activity compels the IDF to act forcefully against it." They did not specify whether any Israeli soldiers were wounded.
It warned in a message in Arabic that it was targeting a "Hezbollah terrorist facility" in Deir Zahrani and said those who remained in the area were at risk. Hezbollah's Al-Manar television channel later reported Israeli airstrikes on Deir Zahrani.
On Sunday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun urged Washington and the international community to help stop Israeli attacks.
Following Israeli strikes over the weekend, which destroyed an out-of-service hospital and damaged government premises, Aoun warned of "a dangerous escalation" and urged the international community to "urgently act to stop these violations."
In Deir Zahrani, the IDF issued its first evacuation notice in Lebanon in a month, warning that residents near a building it called a Hezbollah facility in Arab Salim should leave ahead of attacks on the site.
Lebanon was drawn into the wider Middle East war in March after Hezbollah retaliated against the US and Israel's deadly war of aggression against Iran.
Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion of Lebanon that Beirut says has killed at least 4300 people.
Violence has decreased since a US-Iran memorandum of understanding on the broader regional conflict in June and the Israel-Lebanon framework agreement later that month.
Israeli forces are operating inside a self-declared "security zone" around six miles deep inside Lebanon.
