The foundation of the State of Israel in 1948 was accompanied by the violent mass expulsion of Palestinians from their homes and lands, triggering a human rights crisis that continues to this day.

Following Hamas' October 7, 2023, military offensive, Israel dramatically escalated its aggression by conducting an indiscriminate bombing campaign and ground invasion in Gaza, where over two million people live. The brutal assault has claimed tens of thousands of lives, with official counts likely underestimating the true number killed.

Gaza continues to face violence at the hands of Israeli forces, as well as severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and fuel. Established aid corridors have been highly unreliable amid an Israeli blockade that persists even after a ceasefire was announced in 2025.

Elsewhere, Palestinians in the West Bank continue to face routine and often violent discrimination by Israeli soldiers and illegal settlers, while Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem fight against destruction. Tensions have also widened to Lebanon and elsewhere across the region, especially after the US and Israel's decision to launch a war of aggression against Iran on February 28, 2026.
