Over a week after Lil Nas X covered Parton's classic 1973 hit, Jolene, on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, the country music legend is speaking out about her thoughts on his performance.

On Wednesday evening, Parton shared a photo on Instagram of her and the Montero singer in western gear to praise his performance.

In the caption, Parton wrote, "I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song Jolene. I had to find it and listen to it immediately…and it's really, really good. Of course, I love him anyway."

News travels fast in the music industry, and it didn't take long for Lil Nas X to catch wind of Parton's comments, tweeting out, "Holy s***," in response less than an hour later.

On September 18, the 22-year-old hinted that he might have something in the works with someone associated with the Cyrus family.

"I now have a song with Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, I will not rest until I've collected every Cyrus stone to harness the ultimate power."

Parton is, of course, Miley Cyrus' godmother.

In 2019, the 75-year-old admitted she was asked to help work on the Old Town Road Remix with Lil Nas X, alongside Billy Ray Cyrus, but inevitably turned it down.

However, it wasn't due to lack of interest, but rather hopes of linking up later on for something new, rather than a remix.

"It had done so well with so many people. I thought, 'Well, I’ll wait and do something later on. No point in going down that same Old Town Road. We got other roads to travel,'" Parton previously told Elle.

Here's to hoping Parton and Lil Nas X get together to make some magic of their own soon!
