Rapper PnB Rock tragically killed, sparking grief in hip-hop world
Los Angeles, California - Rapper and singer PnB Rock was fatally shot during a robbery at a Los Angeles-based Roscoe's House of Chicken 'N Waffles restaurant.
The 30-year-old hip-hop star died from his injuries after being shot on Monday afternoon.
Captain Kelly Muniz of the Los Angeles Police Department reveled in a press conference that Rock was having lunch with his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang when an unnamed suspect approached their table.
According to Muniz, the assailant "demanded his property" before shooting him several times and taking off with the musician's belongings.
The LAPD's official Twitter account first reported the horrific incident.
Born Rakim Hasheem Allen, PnB Rock rose to prominence in 2016 with the track Selfish that rose to number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Allen collaborated with several big name rappers throughout his career, including Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa, Kodak Black, and the late Pop Smoke.
In 2017, the Philadelphia-based artist was chosen as part of the yearly XXL Freshman Class.
Nicki Minaj, Russ, and more hip-hop stars pay tribute to PnB Rock
As the tragic news came through, the world of hip-hop reacted with shock on social media.
Nicki Minaj tweeted, "After Pop Smoke there’s no way we as rappers or our loved ones are still posting locations to our whereabouts. To show waffles & some fried chicken????! He was such a pleasure to work with. Condolences to his mom & family. This makes me feel so sick. Jesus."
Singer Russ wrote, "Damn man. RIP PNB Rock. So sad."
Rapper Juicy J added, "R.I.P. PNB ROCK damn mane this is so sad," and retweeted a photo of the late Allen.
The Luv Me Again artist sadly leaves behind two daughters.
