It looks like "six seasons and a movie" will be true after all. Community will make its return with a movie based on the series, which will be released on Peacock.

The show's official Twitter page tweeted "six seasons..." earlier this morning.

Creator Dan Harmon will return for Community: The Movie. Original cast members Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong have all been confirmed to return.

It remains unclear whether cast members Donald Glover or Yvette Nicole Brown, who both departed the show before its final season, will return for the movie.

In his tweet about the announcement, McHale tagged both Glover and Brown, suggesting that their appearances are not off the table entirely.

Community fans get their wish

Community's first five seasons aired on NBC before being moved to Yahoo! Screen for its final season. Dedicated fans of the sitcom have pushed for #SixSeasonsAndAMovie on social media since the show ended in 2015, and the cast and crew have hinted at the possibility of a film in the years since.

Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, expressed enthusiasm at finally being able to confirm fans' long-standing hopes.

"'Six seasons and a movie' started out as a cheeky line from Community's early seasons and quickly ignited a passionate fan movement for this iconic, hilarious, and cool (cool, cool) NBC comedy," Rovner said, per Variety.

"We're incredibly grateful that 15 years later, we are able to deliver fans this promised movie and can’t wait to get to work with Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest, Joel McHale, Sony, and our partners at UTV to continue this epic comedy for Peacock audiences."
