MTV reveals first round of VMA performers

Newark, New Jersey - MTV unveiled the first round of performers for the 2022 Video Music Awards, and we're L-I-V-I-N-G.

The award show, which will take place at New Jersey's Prudential Center on August 28, just got a lot hotter thanks to music artists like J Balvin and Marshmello featuring Khalid getting added to the broadcast in a major way.

On Friday, MTV announced the first round of performers for the 2022 VMAs: Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello featuring Khalid, and Panic! At The Disco.

Brazilian singer Anitta will be making her VMA debut this year while also giving the premiere TV performance of her new single, Envolver. The artist, who also wowed the crowd at Coachella with a jaw-dropping set in April, is also nominated in the Best Latin category, making her the first Brazilian artist to be nominated for an MTV VMA.

Five-time VMA winner J Balvin, who is also nominated for Best Latin for his song In Da Getto with Skrillex, will return to the VMA stage for the first time since 2019 with the TV premiere of his single, Nivel de Perreo with Ryan Castro.

Marshmello and Khalid will take the stage together for the television premiere of their new collaborative track, titled Numb. This will be Marshmello's main stage debut at the VMAs, while it marks Khalid's first time on the VMA stage since his 2017 debut alongside Logic and Alessia Cara.

vThen, there's Panic! At The Disco, who will take the VMA stage for the first time since 2018 to premiere their new song, Middle of a Breakup, the title track off the band's forthcoming album Viva Las Vengeance. The nine-time nominees are also up for Alternative Video.

More performers for the 2022 MTV VMAs will be announced at a later date.
