Mass shooting in Downtown Austin leaves 13 wounded

Austin, Texas – Police confirmed 13 people were wounded after a mass shooting in Austin in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred around 1:30 AM on 6th Street in the heart of the city's entertainment district.

"Our officers responded very quickly. They were able to immediately begin life-saving measures for many of these patients, including applications of tourniquets; applications of chest seals," interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon said.

11 of the victims were transferred to one hospital, while another was sent to a separate hospital. One victim suffering gunshot wounds was taken to an urgent care facility.

Nobody at the scene was reported dead.

The suspect was not immediately arrested. Police say they do not have many details to go on, but they believe the shooter was a man.

Officers are currently reviewing surveillance footage and ask anyone with information about the crime to come forward.
