Pauline Waldron of Greene County allegedly stabbed the dog multiple times, and then attempted to cut off its head with a sword. When it didn't die, she left it to suffer for hours, according to WGRB .

She reportedly waited eight hours before seeking help at the Catskill Animal Hospital, and only emergency surgery was able to save the animal's life.

Investigators are said to have removed five other dogs from the house and take them to safety. The accused was initially arraigned and released without bail due to changes in bail laws.

It is still unclear when Waldron will have to stand trial and what her motive was for wanting to kill her own pet with a sword.
