Right-wing operatives Burkman and Wohl may face record-breaking FCC fine for robocalls

Washington DC - Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman are facing charges in several states and now a potential FCC fine for attempting to scare voters with pre-recorded calls of false information prior to the 2020 presidential election.

"Right-wing operatives" and semi-famous conspiracy theorists Jacob Wohl (23) and Jack Burkman (54) may have landed themselves in hot water.

An astounding $5 million fine was proposed on Tuesday by the Federal Communications Commission against the pair for allegedly violating robocalling laws, CNN reported.

The fine, should it go through, would break records as the biggest ever levied under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act for this type of violation. It will most likely require a commission vote before it is finalized.

The Washington Post said the law states that consumer consent must be provided before robocalling, and that Wohl and Burkman made over 1,000 calls without prior consent.

The two have already been dealing with felony charges levied by the attorney general of Michigan, who last year accused them of generating hundreds of robocalls with the intent of discouraging voting in the last presidential election.

The supposed calls would use fear tactics to scare those who answered with false information. They claimed that voters would also be in danger of the police and credit card companies using their personal data nefariously.

Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, additionally slammed the two with a multi-million dollar lawsuit in May, also alleging the pair were striving for voter suppression.

Burkman called the proposed fine "tyranny and madness." Logged evidence shows the calls were generated from a phone in his name.
