Los Angeles, California - Rapper Macklemore has been removed from the remaining US dates of Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour after venues reportedly objected to his inclusion following his public pro-Palestine statements.

Macklemore was scheduled to perform at eight of the tour's final 10 US shows, beginning with Friday's concert in Philadelphia.

According to the tour promoter, venues notified organizers they would not allow Macklemore to perform, creating a situation that could have threatened the remaining shows, per reports by Rolling Stone.

Macklemore later claimed that the situation began with a conversation between Ed and Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

According to Macklemore, Kraft told Ed that he would not allow the rapper to perform at the stadium and had encouraged other stadium owners to take the same position.

Macklemore said Ed was ultimately placed in a difficult position because keeping him on the tour could have jeopardized multiple shows.

The decision follows Macklemore's performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey earlier this month, where he spoke in support of Palestinians and repeatedly called for a "Free Palestine."

The rapper has been an outspoken supporter of Palestinians throughout the war in Gaza.

Macklemore addressed his removal in a lengthy Instagram statement, saying Ed is a longtime friend and that the two had difficult conversations about their differing views on the situation.

The rapper said he did not consider himself of Ed victims of the situation, emphasizing that his focus remains on Palestinian civilians affected by the war in Gaza.

He also acknowledged that Ed was places in a difficult position as the controversy unfolded, while criticizing what he described as the pressure to remain publicly neutral.

Despite their disagreement, Macklemore said he hopes their 13-year friendship can continue and that the two can keep talking about their differing perspectives.

He ended his statement by reiterating his support for Palestinians and says that being removed from the tour would not change his decision to speak out.

The remaining US dates on Ed Sheeran's tour are set for Philadelphia, Foxborough, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Arlington and Tampa, with the final show scheduled for November 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
