Miami, Florida - The family of Perez Hilton has shared some shocking new details about the celebrity blogger's mental health crisis, which culminated in a self-harm incident captured on a TikTok livestream.
Per a statement published Thursday, Hilton's three children, niece, and sister were all home "minutes" before the alarming livestream on Tuesday night.
"When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma," the statement continued.
The family added that the main priority is making sure that Hilton's children – Mario (13), Mia (11), and Mayte (8) – are able to "heal" from the incident.
"An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy," they added, further urging any influencers, paparazzi, or reporters to leave the area near their home to allow the children to return safely and privately.
The gossip blogger sparked widespread alarm on Tuesday night when he appeared naked and seemingly covered in blood on a TikTok livestream, where he is also said to have been cutting himself. He was soon taken to the hospital after viewers alerted authorities to the incident.
A new report from the Daily Mail claimed that Hilton's first words following his hospitalization were, "I need help," and insiders added that he is "really suffering."
Hilton said in an interview taped last month that he had been in the process of making "amends" with some of the A-listers he harshly scrutinized on his popular blog.
This included Britney Spears and Khloé Kardashian, with Hilton revealing the latter responded and was "very kind."
In an earlier update, Hilton's family confirmed that he is "receiving medical care," but they have not shared further details on his condition.
