Augusta, Maine - Troy Jackson, the Democrats' US Senate candidate for Maine, slammed Vice President JD Vance as a "dirtbag" after he downplayed a killing by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Maine.

Troy Jackson, who replaced Graham Platner as Maine's candidate for the US Senate in July, used a social media video to attack Vance over his insistence that people should "have a little bit of perspective" about a recent ICE killing.

Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was gunned down by a federal immigration agent in Biddeford on July 13. The 25-year-old Colombian's tragic killing contributed to a temporary halting of ICE traffic stops and widespread condemnation.

Vance visited Maine on Monday, telling residents: "We can absolutely investigate every shooting and we will, but we can also secure our border and ensure that poison stops coming into our country."

He downplayed the incident, instead opting to praise ICE and tout President Donald Trump's brutal and often violent immigration policy.

"JD Vance is a dirtbag," Jackson said in a video posted to X. "There was a young man who had a Social Security number, he had a job, I mean, he had a life. He had a family."

"To come here and say: 'Have some perspective.' You ought to have some damn perspective. I mean, you don't even know what the hell's going on. You got a rogue agency that's going around, pulling people out of homes."

Addressing the campaign he's in the midst of fighting against incumbent GOP Senator Susan Collins, Jackson asked: "I want to know – what are you doing about it, Susan?"

"She gave them an additional $70 billion to pull this s**t off," he raged. "We lost a person that JD Vance seems to not give a s**t about. And that should p**s us all off!"
