Washington DC - FBI Director Kash Patel has been obsessively focused on seeking out evidence of election fraud despite major attacks on the bureau by dangerous cyber criminals.
A smidge over a week ago, it was discovered that notorious hacking group ShinyHunters had breached the FBI's computer systems. According to a source that spoke with MS NOW, they used a weakness Google had warned the bureau about several months before.
"This was a vulnerability that supposedly they thought they patched, but managed to miss one of the ways to patch it," the source said, adding that it was "definitely incompetence."
The breach has been called one of the worst counterintelligence disasters in recent history, and saw huge amounts of sensitive employee information leaked.
This information "should never have been tied to the Internet, either," the source said. "It belonged on our internal system and some dumba** moved it all."
"It's the fault of whoever in the FBI is responsible for our cybersecurity," the agent continued. "But also whoever pushed that information from our internal system to the internet."
Critics of President Donald Trump's administration are increasingly pointing the blame at Patel, who they say has been too hyper-focused on fighting election fraud than on issues like terrorism and cybersecurity.
"The FBI should be focused on real threats to our national security, from [Chinese Communist Party] cyberattacks to terrorism," Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi wrote on X alongside a clip of hi speaking with MS NOW.
"Instead, under Kash Patel, the Bureau appears increasingly focused on Trump's voter suppression plans, while Patel still refuses to rule out putting FBI agents at polling places."
In July, Patel ramped up his probe into alleged election fraud during the 2020 election, labeling it a "priority effort." In the months since, he has spend time intimidating journalists during angry congressional hearings.
