Cleveland, Ohio - Embattled congressional candidate Max Miller is now facing a new legal battle after he shared sensitive images of his young daughter online.
On Wednesday, Miller's ex-wife Emily Moreno filed a lawsuit on behalf of their daughter, alleging the politician and his attorney, Aaron Minc, "recklessly published and disclosed to the world a nude image of the child depicting her genitalia."
Moreno is seeking $150,000 in damages for each time the photo of their daughter was downloaded.
The suit comes as Miller, who is running for re-election, faces heavy scrutiny after reports uncovered in his and Moreno's divorce trial revealed allegations against the politician of drug use, misogyny, verbal abuse, and violent behavior against multiple women.
In an attempt to clear his name, Miller published a trove of material online in a Dropbox, sharing links to it on social media.
But Moreno quickly pointed out that an image contained in the materials "could be considered Child Sexual Abuse Material," as it featured their child nude.
In a statement, Miller's attorney Aaron Minc announced he was "solely responsible" for putting together the documents, and apologized to everyone involved.
When confronted with the allegation in an interview, Miller insisted "there was no genitalia exposed" in the image and slammed the media for trying to push "salacious" headlines.
Though a number of politicians called for him to drop his bid, Miller has refused and recently missed a deadline to do so, officially locking him in for the November midterms.
