Washington DC - The Pentagon has rolled out new policies that will force male troops to undergo testosterone testing and possible therapy if levels are not adequate.
According to CBS News, the department on Wednesday rolled out new guidelines that require all male troops ages 30 and over to undergo screenings and blood tests
Soldiers identified as having hypogonadism, or low testosterone, will get follow-up screenings and treatment, including testosterone replacement therapy.
The department says the new guidelines are effective immediately.
Service members under the age of 30 will be offered optional annual screenings, while female service members will be asked if they have symptoms of hormonal dysregulation and referred for further assessment if needed.
The news comes after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth first announced plans for the testing back in July, saying at the time that his aim was to build "The High-T Department of War."
"It's not about artificial enhancement; it's about restoring and optimizing your natural capabilities, protecting your longevity, and ensuring you have the biological foundation required to sustain the fight," Hegseth said in a video.
At the time, Hegseth also said it was "entirely" up to the soldiers who tested with low numbers if they wanted to undergo testosterone therapy.
Since President Donald Trump took office for his second term, he and Hegseth have made destroying "wokeness" in the military and the federal government as a whole a focus of their leadership, taking particular aim at the transgender community.
