Concord, New Hampshire - Democrat Chris Pappas will face off against Republican John Sununu for US Senate after both candidates won their respective primary elections in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
Pappas, who has represented New Hampshire's first congressional district since 2019, easily won the Democratic Senate primary, bringing in 65% of the vote, per the Associated Press.
The congressman defeated progressive challenger Karishma Manzur, who came in second at 32.8%.
"Thank you, New Hampshire. It’s an honor to be your official nominee for U.S. Senate," Pappas posted on X on Tuesday.
"This fight is far from over, and we’ll keep putting in the work to win this November because you deserve a Senator who’ll fight for you."
Pappas will face Sununu in the general election in November after the former senator won the Republican primary with 68.5% of the vote.
Also on Tuesday, Stefany Shaheen, a former Portsmouth City Council member and daughter of Senator Jeanne Shaheen, won the Democratic primary to fill Pappas' US House seat, while auto dealership owner Anthony DiLorenzo won the Republican primary.
Incumbent Governor Kelly Ayotte won the Republican primary for reelection. She will face a challenge from Democratic nominee Cinde Warmington, who ran unopposed on Tuesday.
