Claire Wieters‑McCoy and her husband, Ken, were caught off guard when the stray cat who frequented their yard welcomed kittens. Nevertheless, the couple stepped up to help – and they weren't alone!

"Ken found them, and we have moved the new family inside. Just when you think you're empty nesters!" Claire explained on Instagram last month.

Although the couple's home was now kid-free, it wasn't pet-free when the kittens arrived: They have a dog named Ted.

And the pup seemed to develop his own take on the situation in no time – he seems to think he's the dad of the kittens!

This might explain why the dog hasn't left their side since they arrived. Numerous videos show Ted in action with fiery enthusiasm.

"'Dogfather' Ted is doing well and assisting us as needed or as not needed," one of the viral clips jokes.

A particularly popular new video was shared this week. In it, Ted really gets up to a lot!

The little cats are using their "dog dad" in the video as their own personal playground, as their owner explains.

And Ted doesn't mind at all – he goes along with the fun calmly.

"They climbed all over him, bounced around him, and snuggled into his fur. He is so patient with them!" Claire writes in the caption.
