When Golden Retriever Dexter's humans decided to add a new pet to their family, they made a surprising choice – they got a rabbit. At first, they were worried the fuzzy animal wouldn't get along with their dog, but opposite proved true!

Three years ago, Dexter's life changed forever when his owners brought home a huge rabbit.

"When we brought home our new giant bunny to our Golden Retriever, we had no idea what would happen next," the pet owners said in a recent Instagram video.

At first, the big dog was rather shy: Dexter seemed to spend much of his time sniffing the rabbit from a distance.

Soon after meeting, the two animals went from strangers to best friends, as this sweet compilation video shows!

The two animals' relationship really took off after a few months of living together and sharing snacks.

"They would share greens together," the owners wrote in the video subtitles.

Not only was the giant rabbit always hanging out with the dog, but the bunny's preferred spot was also on top of the canine.
