Los Angeles, California - Jennifer Lopez got major backlash on Twitter after revealing that she was originally meant to be a part of Madonna and Britney Spears' iconic VMAs kiss.

While promoting her new movie, Shotgun Wedding, Mrs. Affleck clarified the longstanding rumor that she was replaced by Christina Aguilera for Madonna and Britney's infamous 2003 MTV VMAs smooch.

"I was filming a movie in Canada, and we had met, me, Madonna, and Britney, to do it at her home, and then I just couldn't get off the film," J.Lo told E!.

"So, we couldn't do it. They got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it, and I didn't wind up doing it."

Unfortunately, the entertainer's admission was not well-received by everyone as some fans sounded off on Twitter after the interview dropped.

Some users slammed J.Lo for for taking away from Christina's moment while other fans shared some harsh thought on the matter, though it's evident that the Jenny from the Block singer was simply responding to a question.

One fan wrote, "Thank god she wasn’t. Would have ruined it. Madonna is the pop queen. Britney is pop Princess & Xtina was her peer & counterpart. It made sense. They all made similar music. JLO just makes no sense in that equation."

Another user tweeted, "Well it made more sense that it was XTINA and Britney because those 2 have more of a madonna influence in their music and were THE pop girls at the time."

Whether fans want to admit it or not, Madonna's VMAs kiss would've been just as iconic if J.Lo was part of it.
