Kim the comedian? SNL joins the Kardashian craze with big announcement
On Wednesday, NBC announced that the 40-year-old will be a guest host on the long-running sketch series.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star joins a few other big celebs, such as Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, who will be lending their talents for the 47th season.
After the announcement, the SKIMS owner shared the news by ecstatically writing on Twitter, "OMFG no turning back now!!!! LOL I’m hosting SNL!!!!!!"
However, everybody isn't too happy NBC choosing the somewhat controversial beauty mogul as a host.
One person who didn't hold back her thoughts was Will & Grace alum Debra Messing.
The 53-year-old retweeted the news with the caption, "Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?"
Though Debra's remarks were a little messy, she's right to question the network's unusual choice.
Sure, Kim is pretty "famous" and her work ethic is impeccable. But a comedian she is not – and acting hasn't exactly proven her strong suit either.
Still, Kim's appearance could be something special.
There's been plenty of sketch material SNL can use to its advantage – i.e. Kim's bizarre bondage-style ensemble at the Met Gala. Plus, her estranged husband, Kanye West could even pop up since she did support all of his listening events for DONDA.
The KUTWK star makes her hosting debut on October 9 along with musical guest Halsey.
