Los Angeles, California – It looks like Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley have taken a time out once again – and new posts from the actor may reveal why.

Just like Aaron's tumultuous NFL season, his relationship with Woodley has had its fair share of ups and downs this year.

Now, it looks like the pair is on the outs once again.

The two "are not together," a source told E! News.

"Shailene tried to give it another shot and was spending time with Aaron. But she quickly saw that everything was on his terms and nothing was going to change. There was no reason to continue and she's done with it again."

In the wake of their split circulating, Shailene posted some cryptic messages to her Instagram story late on Tuesday night.

She shared a poem by Rupi Kaur, which read, "I will never have this version of me again / Let me slow down and be with her. Always evolving."

The 30-year old then followed-up with a clip of a pole jumper hurdling over their inner thoughts, clearly hinting that Shailene is thinking deeply – perhaps about her on-and-off again beau.

The athlete and the actor announced their engagement in February 2021 and even weathered speculation that they had secretly welcomed a child together. But things went south and in February of this year, they reportedly split after two years together.

"They are both focused on their careers, but it took them in separate directions," a source said, while another claimed they have always had a "different, non-traditional relationship."

Yet in the months since then, the two were spotted together multiple times and said to be "testing the waters" by attending a friend's wedding and hanging out in Los Angeles. Aaron even shouted out Shailene on his Instagram directly after the supposed breakup, thanking her for showing him what "incredible kindness" and "unconditional love looks like"

"Thanks for letting me chase after you the first couple months after we met, and finally letting me catch up to you and be a part of your life," he wrote at the time. "I love you and am grateful for you."

Time will tell if the breakup will stick this time around.
