The Bachelor: Zach Shallcross pulls a plot twist and sends a front-runner home in episode three

Los Angeles, California - The Bachelor's 27th season has started to gain momentum as the leading man himself pulled a major plot twist at the rose ceremony and ultimately sent a front-runner home at the end of episode three.

Monday night's episode started with 17 women competing for Zach's love, and concluded with 14 women remaining, though only one was sent home at the rose ceremony.

So, what the heck happened? We're glad you asked.

Things kicked off with host Jesse Palmer swinging by the Bachelor Mansion to do what he does best by giving the women an anxiety attack whilst dropping off envelopes with date cards, and leaving without looking back at the chaos he just created.

It was Kaity from Austin, Texas who scored the first one-on-one of episode three, which featured an "intimate" night at the Natural History Museum with just she and Zach. Sparks were flying so much, the pair opted to have a real night at the museum slumber party, which understandably did not sit well with the women chilling at the mansion.

But things went from romantic to moderately violent on the group date, where the women competed against each other in Bachelor Bowl 5, a game of full-on tackle football where both teams were competing to win a private after party with the leading man himself.

Between the Shall-Crushers and the Ball-Zachs, it was team Ball-Zachs that took the crown and secured their after party with Zach.

But things were just starting to heat up.

Though Christina Mandrell, the woman who secured the first one-on-one date during episode two, was "just confused, honestly," about losing out on the group date rose to Charity, and successfully made her cry in the process.

Clearly, the group was not having Christina's lack of consideration for just about anyone or thing other than herself, leading Brooklyn to pose a question to Christina that we were all asking: "Have you ever considered just literally shutting the f**k up?"

Unfortunately, the single mom was unable to sob her way out of the hole she dug herself with vile and jealous remarks, leading Zach to leave her rose-less at the end of the rose ceremony.

Bailey and Brianna, the recipient of America's first impression rose, also left during episode three, but their departures happened prior to the rose ceremony and seemingly on their own accord.

Find out what twists and turns happen next when The Bachelor returns on February 20 at 8 PM EST.
